Why Do We Make Games
A Manifesto by Bridges Interactive
If we don’t make these games, no one else will. These are the games that our CEOs may not understand, the games that may not find immediate success, the games that may not have a conventional market. They may not rake in immense profits, but then, why do we make them?
We make them to remind ourselves of the adventures we wished for as a child. We make them for us, never showing it to anyone, knowing that it is something truly special. We make them to evoke something, to stir emotions deep within. Anger, sadness, love, detachment, solitude – any emotion, every emotion, has its place.
We’ll wear our creations like badges of honor, never ashamed, always proud, for we are the dreamers. We won’t just dream; we’ll persevere tirelessly, even if our paths diverge.
We’ll make games that are polished, we’ll make games that are rough around the edges, we’ll make games that are raw and personal, games that talk about our feelings, games about love, games about friendships, about our parents, games about dreams, hopes, we’ll make games about anything, and nothing at all.
We’ll keep trying, we will fail tremendously but then we’ll try again. We’ll keep moving forward. If we hurt some and do something bad, we’ll say sorry and try to make it right. We’ll help others find their dreams as well. We’ll also remember to eat, and to live because it’s just as important as to make games. We’ll try not to make boring games but at no point, we’ll stop making them, because these are the games made by us. These games are our imprint, our legacy and If we don’t make them, no one else will.
